Ahmed & Walaa Need Your Support to Survive
United States
Dear friends, family, and community,
My name is Zoé, I am running a campaign for my friends Ahmed & Walaa who live in Gaza.
I have grown very close to Ahmed, his wife, Walaa and their three children. We have become like family, speaking daily and having calls every so often. I met Ahmed in November 2024, and we ran a crowdfunding campaign together over the winter to fundraise for a tent during the displacement. We successfully raised $5,000 in 4 months. Ahmed’s home has been completely destroyed, his job no longer exists, and he has no more means to make money for his family. He spends his days trying to keep his family safe and fed. He has three children: Jude (6 years old), Jad (4 years old), and baby Jumana (6 months old).
Unfortunately, Ahmed and his family have been displaced once again, and have had to leave the tent that has been their home for the past 5 months. They are left with no home, no materials, no food, and no money. The children are lucky if they get to eat even once a day.
Ahmed and Walaa desparetly need funds to build another temporary tent, and then they wish to evacuate from Gaza. They did not think it would have to come to this, but they simply do not see a safe future for their children in Gaza at the moment. They have family in Europe that they would like to join, but the journey is long and dangerous. We are fundraising for visas, flights, travel expenses, and some savings for when they land in a European country.
I have come to know Ahmed and his family very well, they have a special spot in my heart. They are kind, patient, strong, resilient, bright, vibrant, beautiful people. I have watched Jumana and the boys navigate displacement, bombings, losing loved ones, all while Walaa tries to give them school lessons from home on makeshift cards so that they do not fall behind in school. Walaa was pregnant and gave birth during the displacement, and has been nursing her baby while living in a tent in the cold winter.
We deeply need your help. We hope to evacuate Ahmed and his family as soon as possible so they have the most chance of survival and safety. Anything you can give today helps immensely. Thank you for considering our plea in these desperate times.
A message from Walaa: “Hello, we are the family of Walaa and Ahmed. We live in the Gaza Strip, where life has become unbearable, and hope is diminishing day by day. The wars, the blockade, and the lack of security have destroyed our dreams and the dreams of our children. We only dream of a safe place to start a new life. I seek to immigrate to a safe country where I can provide my children with education, care, and dignity. But the road is not easy, and the costs of travel, coordination, official paperwork, and residency are very high and completely beyond my means. Therefore, I address you with a broken heart but full of hope, that you will be part of this dream. The amount I collect will be used for: coordination and exit fees from Gaza; visa and travel costs; temporary residency for the first period; and legal documentation costs. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who extends a helping hand. Please pray for us, so that we may find a way to a better life.”
Thank you for considering our plea in these desperate times.
